We woke early, each with our own expectations. McKinley. Denali. However one says it, the highest peak in North America, and we were finally ready to go.
Our gear was a water bottle, a day pack, a camera. The shuttle bus had bucket seats, and windows that worked when we stopped to view wildlife. The bus drivers told us about what we were seeing. Finally, we rounded a corner—we knew The Mountain was there, but would we see it? Most don’t—the weather is too severe. On this clearing day, we were fortunate. A few shots, and we moved on. I can’t imagine, for a second, the effort to reach the mountaintop. The determination. The skill. And the Luck. And still take pictures, and come down to show them. From Jimmy Chin’s Web site, take time to appreciate a few adventurers who do in The Denali Experiment.
