If We’re So Smart, Why Can’t We Be In Two Places At Once?

I’ll be on a plane to England in eighteen days, and by then the iris in the garden won’t be in bloom, although one is well ahead of the others. Spring is run- ning late this year. I’ll be sorry to miss their brief appearances—these performances shouldn’t be taken for granted.

The photo I’ve posted shows a particularly fine specimen from last year, on May 18, and though it elicits a memory there is no anticipation of fresh flowers bobbing in an afternoon breeze.

If you’re blessed by iris in your garden…won’t you take a look for me this year?
