I was in the kitchen, taking a peanut butter cookie from the jar, when I looked at one of the dining room chairs. I sit on it during meals, through jigsaw puzzles and friendly hands of gin rummy, and if it were a person I would describe it as sturdy, dependable, and comfortable. Good- looking, too. But I’d overlooked its elegant character, and how it contributes to home.
