A Piano, A Pyramid, and Old Neon

Our last morning at Valley of Fire and what to shoot? Ulrich and I opted for close, driving around Atlatl Rock and stopping for a few shots at the so-called Piano Rock. No, it didn’t look quite like this—interpreting how it felt is just part of the fun once you have the image on your computer.

We’d seen a photo of Pyramid Arch, but when we arrived at the GPS coordinates it wasn’t visible. Ulrich pointed—”There it is, up there.” A careful scramble over boulders followed.

We spent the rest of the day driving. Kanab, Utah, was next up, and a room for the night.
