Every year, as April nears and March Madness™ swamps our sports pages, daffodils bloom at the base of an oak tree in our front yard. They’ve picked a fine spot for flowering—it receives hours of direct sunlight and, on days like today, easy breezes set them dancing merrily. Their slender welcome forms accent a landscape that has been brown and sleeping since November. Coupled with the arrival of rufous hummingbirds, there’s little doubt of spring’s intentions. It’s time to get up, get moving. Time for gladness.
