Robert Lebeck

The stark black-and-white work of German photographer Robert Lebeck captures the essence of the tumultuous years immediately following WWII, from divided Germany to an awakening African continent.

A major retrospective of Mr. Lebeck’s photographs is currently on exhibit in Berlin, at Martin-Gropius-Bau, continuing through March 23, 2009. Their web site includes a biography that is well worth reading.

If Berlin is out of your way visit Mr. Lebeck’s web site for a glimpse of his thoughtful and powerful photography.
